Volunteer Opportunities

RUFF is a non-profit organization. We pay a minimal staff to care for the dogs and run the office; we also pay the essential expenses, such as utilities. We depend on donations and volunteers to bring the "extras" to the dogs that are rescued.

Whatever you like to do or are good at, we can use your talents at RUFF! Volunteers MUST BE OVER 18. Volunteers ages 15 to 18 are allowed if a parent volunteers WITH them.

When you come to RUFF to volunteer, you will see the kennel staff are ALWAYS VERY busy keeping up with the basics of cleaning, feeding, giving medications, etc. If they seem to not have time to "visit" with you, it's because they don't. But you should check in at the office and have the office assign you to an EXPERIENCED kennel tech - we don't want a new volunteer working with a kennel tech who is still learning their job! Saturdays are a good day to find experienced volunteers at RUFF who can show you around and answer questions. After that, you can return on days that are convenient for you to perform the services you want to offer.

Not everyone who comes to RUFF can do just ANY job on their first day. Safety of the dogs and the volunteers is a priority, so some jobs are limited to more experienced volunteers. Also, the time involved to train a good volunteer is valuable.
